How to disable USB storage devices on Red Hat Enterprise Linux?


 Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 5
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 7

Solution:



Add the following line in the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

blacklist usb-storage

Note: blacklist.conf file exists in RHEL 5 and 6 environments, but will be created by this method in RHEL 7.
